This shows you how games are being rated in their respective categories.
"The Display" will be based on the game system and other systems in the same boat (IE....I can't compare the graphics of a PS1 game to a Ps2 game because of obvious comparisions) I am looking for both eye catching graphics as welll as quality and that even includes the actual "Movies" as well as special effects. Is the graphics bland. Is it to bright / dark? Cutesy? These are some of the general factors I use to look over a game based on graphics.
"The Noise"-- Is the music or sound effects too loud or too silent? Is the quality worth it? Does it sound scratchy or too off the wall? Is the Voice acting (if any) good and unique? Or is it another Ben Stein voice? Is the music any good?
"The Wiring". Is the game functional? Is the controls easy to work with? Does the camera angles help or hurt the game and it's gameplay. Can you control the camera? Is the menu functional? Any odd button combinations? Does the button layout help or hurt the game?
"The Core" Is the game too easy or too difficult? Are there parts to the game in which its more one sided? Are the levels or areas unique in their own ways? Are the levels just too basic? Does the storyline even have a purpose? Is it one that follows through the game, or is it your basic "man steals girl"? The depth of a game pretty much.
"The boomerang". Just like a boomerang if you throw it....it comes back. Is the game worth repeating? Is it a one trick pony? Will this game be in your library for months of years to come. Are we looking at another rush title with about as much value as a used toothbrush? Is it fun?
The titles i'm using are trying to break away from the basic category names used on other review sites. If you want to know how the titles translate here's the list...
The Display - Visual Preseitation (Graphics/Movie quality)
The Noise - Sound/Music: Audio Presentation (Music and Sound FX quality)
The Wiring - Gameplay and Controlling (Functionallity)
The Core - The Storyline, Difficulty, Plot...the heart of a game
The boomerang - Replay Value and Fun Factor. Lets face it. If this game is bad, you will not play it again.
all games are ranked on a 0 - 10 Scale. However; the overall score will be a combination of the average of the 5 scores and my personal opinion which will raise or lower the overall score by no more than 1/2 a point (0.5)
