Double Dragon I believe is one of those games, where you will either like it or hate it. I for one like the game and for those who don’t, well you do have the right to express your opinion. The story line for this game involves 2 brothers named Billy and Jimmy Lee. Jimmy belongs to a gang who kidnaps Billy’s girlfriend Marian. Your task is to go through 4 missions which finally lead to your confrontation with your brother to rescue your girlfriend. Much like Super Mario Bros. but with martial arts involved.
Honestly the game was much better in the arcade, but this one will do. At least the guy with the machine gun looks almost the same. The game can be short if you have gone through it before, but if this is your first time it might take some time getting used to. Not to mention some moves might be activated when you don’t want to but fighting 2 enemies at one time gets easier. The music is a tad terrible and some people might find it annoying or repetitive, but why should you be complaining? Just turn the volume down and put on a CD or you can feel really retro and put on a record (preferably the theme song to Rocky III “Eye of the Tiger”). The controlling is kind of a chore and your thumbs will get a good work out. The graphics are nothing to write home about, some levels have the background flash. This might give you a seizure if you are not careful. Character designs could have been better, but eh. Some have humungous heads with tiny bodies, it should be no secret that they are on steroids. Maybe they are friends with Barry Bonds.
